Shift Time Rates are used to further break up earned shift hours and are usually used for payroll consideration. However another important feature of rates is the fact that time in different rates, cannot be balanced against each other. Balancing will be discussed in more detail when discussing Day shifts and Payroll shifts.
Viewing the Shift Rates
To see the list of shift rates, proceed as follows:
Select the Shift Time Rates option from the Setup / Shifts dropdown menu. The_ Browse Shift Rates_ window will be displayed.
The Browse Shift Rates window provides:
Shift Rates List. This is a list of all the Shift Rates and provides the system code, description and the identification color for the rate.
Send To button. Used to send the current window information to a Printer, save it as a File or e-mail it to an e-mail recipient.
Add button. Used to add new shift rates to the list.
Change button. Used to edit an existing shift rate.
Remove button. Used to remove a selected shift rate from the list.
Close button. Used to close the window.
Auto-Color. Automatically sets the color of the rate.
Adding a Shift Rate
To add a new Shift Rate to the list, proceed as follows:
At the Browse the Shift Rates File window, click on the *Add*button, the _Update Rate_window will be displayed.
Enter the *Code*for the new rate. This is a numerical code that is used to identify the particular rate and can be between 1 and 255.
Type in a *Description*for the rate.
Use the *Color*select button to select the color to be used to identify the rate. This is used when building up daily shifts and enables you to see when the different rates start and end.
If the time rate is to be included in a payroll, select the Include In Payroll tick box and also define the particular Payroll Name where it is to be added.
Click the *Ok*button to save the rate.
Change a Shift Rate
To change an existing Shift Rate, proceed as follows:
At the Browse the Shift Rates File window, select the rate to be changed and then click on the Change button, the Change a Rate window will be displayed.
Make the necessary changes and then click on the *Ok*button to save the changes.
Remove a Shift Rate
To remove an existing Shift Rate, proceed as follows:
At the Browse the Shift Rates File window, select the Shift Rate to be deleted and then click on the *Remove*button.
At the delete confirmation window select the *Yes*button to delete the selected rate from the list.
