Document locations can be either managed by Eco Time or manually the user
Eco Time managed documents only support PDF documents.
Configuring document management in Eco Time
Document management is configured in Config Module’s bells and whistles options.
Select the Document Management tab and the options below will be displayed.
Select or unselect Enable Document Management will enable or hide all user options in the web and user module. The legacy document links will be the only option available.
Select or unselect “Allow documents and notes” will enable or hide document management for that specific category only.
Select or unselect “Allow file uploads” to enable or disable Eco Time to management and store the document uploaded.
If Allow file uploads is enabled, Eco Time will copy the selected or uploaded document to the web folder’s document folder and place the file in the appropriate sub folders.
After the Document management features have been selected, the Document Types need to be configured from the user module toolbar or from the web browse's setup menu.
The document types allow the user to filter certainly user definable document type descriptions for reporting or browsing purposes as seen below.
The correct selecting for the document category is required when adding or amending document types. Document types are classified in fixed categories which are:
Courses
Discipline
Employment History
Employee Notes
Leave
Training
Document type lookups will be filtered according to the category when accessed from an update form. For example, when adding leave and the user wants to upload a document, only document types categorized as 'Leave' will be selectable.
Document categories enable document types to be grouped together.
3. Document management access
When the global features is enabled, The Documents global browse is available in the user module toolbar and in the web browse and employee menu. See images below
Depending on which document category has been enabled, that category’s update form (for example update leave or discipline etc), will display the documents tab and document browse on that tab relating to the current records employee and date range. See images below

The description is required describing the document which makes it intuitive for the user to read
The document type is required.
Note only the category types applicable to the current browse will be selectable. For example, if you are in the leave update from, you will only see category leave document types in the lookup.
After selecting the document type, the file upload option or file link field will become available.
If allow file uploads is enabled, the upload button will be visible, otherwise one a link field for document location reference can be used.

We are hosting the Eco Time Web server locally and utilizing the User Module. Our goal is to access and view managed documents from both the Web Interface and the User Module.
This functionality is available by default, provided that files are managed by Eco Time and the 'Allow File Uploads' option is selected.
We are using Eco Time Document Management, but the file upload button is not available on the web after selecting a document type. Only an entry field labelled 'File' is visible.
The file upload button is only available if 'Allow File Uploads' is enabled for the current document category. If this option is disabled, the file entry field becomes a manual input field where the user must enter a document link. Note that manually linked files will not be viewable in Eco Time Web.
How can I view uploaded documents in Eco Time?
Select the document row in the Web or User Module's document browse. Then click on the document link or the file name column. In the Web interface, the PDF will open in a new tab; in the User Module, it will open using the system's default PDF reader.
