From the setup options page, select the kiosks button to configure a kiosk or change a kiosks settings.
Click on Insert. Select the General Tab.
Kiosk Number: The kiosk identification number.
IP Address: IP address of the kiosk.
Description: A short description to identify the kiosk.
Location Description: Add a location description for a more detailed identification of the kiosk.
Guard Auth Tag: The guard tag number.
Allow Access to Devices: Allow the visitor tag to be used at clocking units configured in Eco Time. This will be a list of device numbers separated by commas.
Induction Menu Is Off: Show or hide the Induction menu in the kiosk window.
Guard Menu Is Off: Show or hide the Guard menu in the kiosk window.
Guard Station Direction: The direction of the Guard station from the kiosk i.e. which way must the visitor turn to receive their tag.
Select the Options Tab.
Kiosk Groups: Kiosks can be grouped for report purposes. Enter the kiosk identification numbers seperated by commas to group them.
Contacts Filter: Filter the names of the names of possible contacts a visitor can search from at this kiosk. For more information on creating a filter view the document on Custom Employee Groups.
Label Printer and Report Printer: The printer name in these two fields can be found as follows:
Open Windows' Control Panel.
Select Devices and printers.
Right-click on the printer you want to use and click on Properties.
Copy the name of the printer under the General tab and paste it into the ini file. Click on Save to save the kiosk details.
Setting up the Kiosk Terminal or Desktop PC
Access The Visitor Management System form the kiosk
Go to the desktop pc or terminal window which will be used as a kiosk for Visitors to Sign In and Sign Out. Follow the steps below:
Copy the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file to desktop (for Windows 7 to Windows 11).
Open it and add to the bottom of the host file: 10.0.9.150 visitors.eco-time.com where the IP address is that of the CS Visitor Management Server pc.
Copy and paste this file back into the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc folder and confirm the replacement.
Install the latest version of the Google Chrome web browser on the kiosk.
Enter the dns name of the Eco Time server in the browser address as for example: https://visitors.eco-time.com?kn=1.
The kn parameter stands for kiosk number and the 1 represents the kiosk number configure for the location. In other words, the kiosk number will be different for each kiosk location.
The kiosk number passed in the url above (for example ?kn=1 ), will determine the features for this kiosk's location as setup in the Visitor Management System.
The Sign In Sign Out Wizard page should open if the CS Visitor Server is running and or reachable.
Press F11 or open the Chrome settings to activate full screen mode.
Creating a desktop shortcut
To create a desktop shortcut to directly open the Visitor Management system:
When in Chrome, with the Visitor Sign In page open, open the Chrome menu (click the button).
Select Tools, Create Application Shortcuts.
The following popup will be displayed:
Click on Create. A shortcut to open the webpage in Chrome will now be on your desktop and in your Task Bar
Clicking on the desktop shortcut will run the Visitor Management System Kiosk in full screen mode.
It is highly recommended that the shortcut link is placed in the desktop or terminal's startup folder to ensure that the VMS Kiosk runs automatically if the desktop pc or terminal is rebooted.
